The Hinds Head, Bray – April 2011

If it was good enough for Prince Philips stag do it was good enough for the birthday boy. Surprised to be able to book a table for Easter Sunday on the same week we scrubbed ourselves up to match Berkshire’s finest.

A G&T and a half of Windsor Knot to celebrate the impending wedding we left the union flag festooned bar for the main eating area.

ham hock and fois gras terrine with piccalilli

Superb flavours the piccalilli just had the right amount of tang to liven up the ham

tea smoked salmon with soda bread

tasty salmon however not much of a tea smokeyness

Roast beef with the best yorkie Ive tasted in a restaurant, gorgeous horseradish sauce too.  Beef was tender, moist and a refreshing pink colour.

Chicken, leek and ham pie with a side of triple cooked chips

Birthday boys wasn’t happy with the size of the pie but it was full to the brim and tasty.

Quaking pudding  – kind of like a egg custard pudding, pretty bland.

lemon tart – zesty and thick, full of flavour.

£96.75 for two half pints, a G&T, one glass of wine and two, three course dinners.    Delicious food and great service but its a heston fanville.
