La Fiorentina – Dec 2008 – UPDATE Jul 2009

UPDATE – noticed some bad reviews online, new management  etc Will have to make a return visit to see what it is like.

Anniversary time, and being money conscious we went for the Winter Warmer menu – £14.95 for three courses, a glass of wine and coffee 🙂

Starters
Fritelle de Pesce
Delicious fishcakes made with smoked haddock, salmon, garlic & fresh herbs, coated in breadcrumbs, shallow fried & served with a double dip. (Spicy tomato & tartare sauce)

Gamberoni Diavola £2.50 extra
King prawns sautéed in extra virgin olive oil with garlic, white wine & sweet chilli. Served with freshly baked focaccia bread.

Smoked Salmon Terrine
Scottish smoked salmon & gravadlax served with homemade seafood pate garnished with seasonal salad leaves

Salsiccia con Fagioli
Italian sausage & Borlotti beans in a special sauce made with spices, sage & garlic blended with a rich tomato sauce. Served with garlic bread.

Bruschetta Margherita V
Slices of bread made with extra virgin olive oil topped with freshly chopped tomatoes, Mozzarella, basil & a little garlic, then toasted.

Calamari Fritti
Fresh squid sealed in flour, lightly deep fried & garnished with fresh seasonal salad leaves.Served with a dip (Spicy tomato & tartare sauce)

Minestrone Soup
Classic Italian vegetable soup.

Mussel Provncialle £1.95 extra
Mussels cooked in finely chopped onions, white wine, garlic & Napoli sauce.

Funghi Farciti
Mushrooms coated in breadcrumbs stuffed with cheese, ham, onions & herbs, deep fried & served with garlic mayonnaise.

Pappa Pomodoro Soup V
Thick & tasty tomato soup made with leeks, fresh basil, chilli peppers,
whole wheat bread, olive oil & salt & pepper. VERY TASTY!
Main Courses
Linguine Fiorentina
Long pasta tossed in extra virgin olive oil served with chilli & garlic, king prawns & broccoli.

Bistecca Boscaiola £4.95 extra
Sirloin steak sautéed in olive oil with onions, mushrooms, tomato, garlic, red wine, Dijonmustard, demi-glace, peppercorn sauce & cream.
Pizza Little Tuscany
Topped with tomato, garlic, strips of freshly baked chicken breast, cured Italian ham, Mozzarella cheese & fresh herbs

Trio of Fish Riviera
Haddock, Sole & Plaice dressed in a light batter & breadcrumbs. Served with French fries & fresh vegetables with tartare sauce.

Pollo Paesana
Supreme breast of chicken sautéed in olive oil with onions, mushrooms, herbs, wine, tomatoes, red & green peppers, garlic & chilli pepper (optional)

Beef Royal
Slices of Aberdeen Angus beef cooked in a sauce made olive oil, onions, mushrooms, white wine, peppercorn sauce, French mustard & cream.

Grigliata Mista di Carne Spiedini
A meat feast of Italian sausage, lamb, pork & chicken marinated with garlic, mint leaves & rosemary in extra virgin olive oil, char-grilled on a skewer with vegetables. Served with saffron rice & game sauce.

King Prawns Provinciale £2.95 extra
Sautéed in butter with onions, garlic, finely savoury tomato sauce with a little chilli.Garnished with Mediterranean rice.

Lobster Tortelloni
Fresh pasta parcels stuffed with lobster served with a sauce made with olive oil, finely chopped onions, garlic & white wine then blended with cream & tomato sauce, topped with smoked salmon & king prawns

Baked Pasta al Forno V
Pasta with onions, red & green peppers, Mozzarella cheese, mushrooms,
a hint of garlic, fresh herbs & nutmeg blended with a tomato & béchamel sauce then baked in the oven. Served with a side salad.

I went for the salmon terrine with lobster Tortoloni and banoffi pie to finish, the other half – fishcakes, Grigliata Mista di Carne Spiedini and cheesecake.

We were stuffed and very happy, ending the night in a sugar rush (in a good way!). The portions were spot on, service friendly and quick, toilet clean and another pair of happy customers!
