Cafe Wander, 110 West George Street, Glasgow Jan 2011

Slap bang in the middle of town, this sit in cafe seemed like the place I’d been looking for cosy, good food and friendly service without too much of city centre prices.   Thankfully my prayers were answered.
Go down the ironwork staircase and through the lovely wooden double doors to a surprisingly large basement cafe.  No smell of chips here hurrah! Just the smell of fresh food and coffee.

The usual selection of baked potatoes (from £5), Soup (£3.50), Burgers (£5.25) and salads (£.5.50).  Breakfasts are also served until 11:30am.
We ordered tea, a muffin (American style not English) and a scone with jam and butter.

The mugs of tea came with enough milk to decide if you wanted it strong or baby milky and left you to decide how strong you wanted it. (£1.75), the muffin (£2.25) was soft and moist and disappeared quickly.   The scone (£1.75) was served warm and soaked the butter superbly.

Will happily go back for somewhere cosy for a cuppa.
