Unprocessed month

Could you make it through the month of October without eating processed food? The chaps and chapesses at Eating Rules have come up with some guidelines to help us get back to basics with food and rediscover real tastes without the extra preservatives, extra colouring and all sorts of nasties.

Eating Rules have come up with a helpful definition of what is unprocessed and what is processed.

“Unprocessed food is any food that could be made by a person with reasonable skill in a home kitchen with readily available, whole-food ingredients.

I call it “The Kitchen Test.” If you pick up something with a label (and if it doesn’t have a label, it’s probably unprocessed), and find an ingredient you’d never use in your kitchen and couldn’t possibly make yourself from the whole form, it’s processed.”
